The Giant Race
Starting January 1, 2014, Modify became an official licensee of Major League Baseball. You can see our MLB Watches here (scroll to the bottom of the page for team-by-team links – and sign up to be notified when they launch!).
Thanks to the MLB license, we were able to meet Scott and Sara, two of the folks who put on one of San Francisco’s coolest non-profit events, The Giant Race. They asked us to create a custom watch for them, and we were only too happy to oblige. Anything that raises money for a great organization is cool in our book.
The watch is a challenge-prize for the race. The custom engraving only goes to those folks who create all three of The Giant Race events – they’re calling it the “Three Bagger” award. You can learn more about the event on their Facebook page and website.
This year marks the fifth-annual Giant Race Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and kids Race/Family Relay. All proceeds benefit Project Open Hand. This organization works on a cause near-and-dear to our hearts. From their site,
Project Open Hand is a nonprofit organization that provides meals with love to seniors and the critically ill. Every day, we prepare 2,500 nutritious meals and provide 400 bags of healthy groceries to help sustain our clients as they battle serious illnesses, isolation, or the health challenges of old age. We serve San Francisco and Alameda Counties, engaging more than 125 volunteers every day to nourish our community.
We hope you’ll take the time to learn more and even consider a direct donation.
And for those of you who are new, what is Modify? Well, we are a three-year old startup. Started in Berkeley (on one of our couches – that couch is now in our office and still used. History is fun!). Now we’re based on Bluxome Street, right by AT&T Park. All of our products are modular, so that you can mix-and-match to create the look that you love. And yes, that look can be funky, conservative, really funky, really conservative … there’s no limit
We’ve been featured by Good Morning America (3x), Black Enterprise, The New York Times, Inc, Women’s Health, Men’s Health, Self, Lucky, Vanity Fair. We are also all the apples of our parents’ eyes, so there’s that.
Now, of course, you can choose to look GIANT, so there’s that.
Okay, no need to click the link above. San Francisco Giants watches fans, see below for one that we’re thinking about launching:
