Superfan, Nicholas Wetaz Shows His Colors!
We at Modify value our fans and their experiences with us more than anything else. It is our fans who allow us to smile everyday, which is why each month we pick a new ModiFamily Member of The Month (MFMOTM). This honor goes out to our most loyal fans who have Mod collections that even make us jealous. These fans share photos with us on social media and aren’t afraid to communicate and tell us when we’re doing a great job and when we can do better. These superfans, ladies and gentleman, are our heroes, which is why each month we pick one to win a brand new Mod of their choice and rock the crown of MFMOTM.
The April MFMOTM was Nicholas Wetaz, who constantly goes above and beyond for Modify. You’re probably asking yourself why we’re posting this blog a month late. Well, that’s because Nicholas is constantly on the move. Check out this video of him bungee jumping in a Mod! We asked him to write a few words about Modify and the following is what he sent us…
Well…Modify decided to make me their fan of the month. I know, I am just as surprised as you…and of course everyone has their story about how they got started with Modify, but I’d say mine is perhaps not what you would expect.
My journey with Modify Watches started on a cold dark night…OK not really. It actually started at work, sitting at my desk and doing one of the monotonous tasks that I had been putting off. So no, I wasn’t out looking for a new watch or anything like that. Are you ready for this…I actually found them in a Facebook Advertising presentation. I work in the social media industry so it is quite often that I receive the latest updates on everything Facebook. I happened to receive a presentation about the latest changes to Facebook advertising and sure enough, there was an image of a Modify Watch staring at me. Now normally I skip through most of the slides and disregard the company examples. One, because the information is quite redundant and two, because it is normally for some mom and pop shop that boosted the sales of their 1 store in nowhere Idaho. But since I like watches, I couldn’t help but take a closer look to see if it was actually a real thing. To my surprise, it was legit. After the social media nerd in me stopped analyzing their Facebook page, I found my way to their website where I pretty much ordered a watch immediately.
It could be that the internet has spoiled me or I work in an industry where I am constantly trying to get companies to interact more with their consumers, but I like companies and brands who actually listen to what their audience wants. Initiatives like the March MODness Tourney
, fan voting for watch designs
and asking fans to help name watch combos
are perfect examples. I can’t think of anyone who does it better. Not only did all of that hook me, but when I got my first delivery it had a hand written note and I found an extra strap in the box! I knew that it would not be my last purchase. Seriously though, how many companies actually hand write you a note when you buy something? I mean, a company like Apple is well known for excellent customer service, but you are also spending a ton of money for their products. Customer service these days is a lost art in my opinion. So having that was great. On top of that, brands don’t generally give you free stuff unless they really mess up…and even then…they don’t do it willingly. If you want a good example, just think of airlines. They will break and or lose your things and then it isn’t until twitter blows up and youtube views hit 20 million that they actually take action. Modify does it willingly and, from what I can see, has built it into their core values.
Nicholas’ March MODness design
My collection, which is small in comparison to others I have seen, is definitely going to continue to grow. I have a couple faces and straps heading my way and I still need to make my custom design from their Kickstarter campaign
. Now with the custom designs, I am stoked for the possibilities. My imagination is going to be the only thing to stop me. The options are now endless. My favorite thing about the watches in general is that they go with everything. Whether you are going out for a nice dinner and want to be a bit more sophisticated, hitting the bar for some drinks and looking for that flashy eye catcher or going to a sporting event and want to show your team colors, there is a Mod that fits. I like switching things up daily and I rarely wear the same Mod more than 1 day in a row. Mods also make great gifts. My mom, cousin and niece are all proud members of the ModiFamily.
Overall, I am a fan and now, fan of the month….definitely not what I expected…but then again, everything I have experienced with Modify was not what I would have expected. Consider me pleasantly surprised and a fan for life.
