Cyclo-Cross World Championships – 2014 Edition
We’re less than one week away from the UCI Cyclo-Cross World Championships. They’re taking place in Hoogerheide, Netherlands from January 30th (practice) through February 2nd. That’s pre-tty far from San Francisco (even as the crow flies).
Modify has a pretty fun relationship with cycling. We were chosen to create a custom watch for the UCI Worlds last year, the first time they were ever held in the U.S. The Louisville 2013 event was pretty momentous for cycling in the U.S., and we’re grateful to Joan Hanscom for being a huge advocate of ours and bringing us in.
And as we’ve learned more, we’ve had a ton of fun customizing timepieces for some incredible organizations. Below are just a few examples.
Our discussions with cycling just keep getting deeper. We recently had a chat with Revolights, one of the coolest new product companies around – anyone who’s a city cyclist, you gotta get their product to drastically improve your safety on the road. And some of you might remember our giveaway earlier this year with Timbuk2.
What do we love about Cyclo-Cross (“CX”, “CCX’, “cyclo-X”, “’cross”)? Well, if you haven’t gone, go and see an event, it’s one of the more fun competitions out there. Races are about an hour long, the laps are about 2 miles (meaning you get to see the racers and the back-and-forth), and the attitude of everyone there is friendly. It’s a competition where all of the competitors respect each other, and love the fans. They’re real people. What’s not to like?
Finally, for those of you interested in this year’s Cyclo-Cross World Championships, check out the homepage. We’d love to hear some predictions in the comments. Per usual, we’re putting our money on Meredith.
