BAYCAT + Modify Are Finally *Together*
We could not be more proud than to partner with BAYCAT.org, “a non-profit community media producer that educates, empowers and employs underserved youth and adults in the digital media arts.” You can read below to find out more about the backstory and why we think BAYCAT is incredible. But first, watch this video to see about their immediate need after a break-in
We’re supporting BAYCAT in two ways.
First, As a prize for their IndieGoGo campaign, titled “The Show Must Go On”
Second, they’re our partner for the Together Watch this month, where $20 from the sale of every face goes to the organization
We first met BAYCAT through Villy Wang, a customer from Modify’s early days. Ayo and our friend Tobi bumped into this incredibly fashionable woman on the street and she commented on Tobi’s Bushakan sunglasses stand – “That’s Dope”. Ayo, ever the salesman, said something to the effect of, “I run a company that has dope in the tagline.” At which point Villy rolled up her sleeve to show off a Modify 1.0.
Well, turns out that fashion sense is the 2nd coolest thing about Villy. What’s number one? She founded and runs BAYCAT. Ayo and Aaron had the pleasure of visiting, check out the image below.
What is BAYCAT? We’ll let the organization’s Mission and Vision speak for themselves.
BAYCAT educates, empowers and employs underserved youth and young adults to produce digital media that tells their unique stories and engages them to positively transform themselves, their communities and the world.
BAYCAT believes that every person’s story matters. We envision a world where media and technology facilitate the telling and the hearing of stories from the broadest possible range of experiences in a way that moves people to create positive change in their communities.
Basically, they take incredibly talented youth, give them tools and training, and unleash creativity in the world. Pre-tty awesome.
